Crafty Time

I've spent the last week or so planning my holiday craft projects. I've gotten a Christmas decorative canvas completed, and I'm so happy with it! Also attaching a little picture of my crafting area. Love this spot so much:-)

Christmas tree is up. Michael's/Hobby Lobby shopping list made. Currently going through all of my Christmas goodies! Love these fall days so much!!!

Everyday Monday

Today was a usual Monday -- a new school week for the boys, a new spelling list for Trent, the next book in our phonics series for Luke. A pretty typical Monday. The boys and I designed a huge "We are Thankful" poster where we will be documenting all of the many things we are thankful for.

I don't have a specific lovely thing about which to blog today. I'm sitting in my lovely blue bedroom this evening after a long, peaceful shower. The house is (relatively) quiet, Carl is puttering around the kitchen, the boys are safe & snug. I'm about to do some online shopping and tuck into a good book. All is right with my little corner of the world (at least for the moment). How ordinary. How serene. How lovely.

A Holiday Mood

I am so in the mood for the holidays! Today I did my Thanksgiving "test run," making turkey, dressing, etc. It turned out great, and now I don't have to cook all weekend!

Also thinking about what Christmas craft projects to work on. Our holiday newsletter is done, and I am going to Michael's next week armed with my shopping list so Carl can make his yearly Christmas crafts. I love this idea from Ali Edwards, who borrowed the idea from Martha Stewart. Also plan to create one of these, borrowed from Ali Edwards' project.

I keep telling the boys this is going to be the most lovely Christmas ever -- and with these lovely projects, how can it not be?

Thanksgiving is in the Air!

A cold, sunny morning. A morning for staying in our warm little house working on phonics and math (Luke) and Latin, biology, spelling, grammar, algebra (Trent). A morning for soft music and making pictures with dried pumpkin seeds. A morning for Luke to use mama's letter stamps and stamp pad to create pictures. A morning for daddy to explain fractions to Trent.

I'm preparing to do my Thanksgiving test run this Friday. Each year I do a trial run on everything I'll make for Thanksgiving, just to make sure things taste and look perfect! Can't wait!

Talked with my best friend Melissa yesterday. She's a high school English teacher in Kansas City, MO. Talking with her made me glad I'm a homeschooler. Also so glad her students have someone so brillliant, caring and educated teaching them. She's awesome!!! Can't wait for a post-Thanksgiving trip to Kansas City to see Melissa and the Plaza lights.

Coffee Afternoon

The boys and I spent the day out and about. Our favorite stop? Longhome Coffee this afternoon for hot chocolate (Luke) and iced mochas (Trent & I). Saw some friends, chatted about nothing in particular, enjoyed our coffee and hot chocolate so much. Love these crisp, sunny fall days with my boys. Love iced mochas. Love Longhome Coffee:-)
